![]() ![]() Again, an awe inspiring experience and an awesome memory of our trip to Vienna. Autographs on the ceiling from the great masters, Beethoven, Mozart, both Strauss's, Wagner, Mark Twain (who lived in the upstairs apartment for a while), Pavorotti and Johnny Cash. If you don't know what that is, take a look at the pictures online. We ended up sitting inside this medieval room right next to the Mark Twain room. However we came across an awesome waiter who asked his boss if we could sit inside in one of the back rooms that wasn't being used that evening. Unfortunately it was still dinner hour and we couldn't be seated. We enjoyed ourselves so much one afternoon sitting outside on the patio with our Eidelweiss beer in this historic setting so much that we went back again on our last night. After 2:00 in the afternoon and again after 8:00 you can sit in this incredible place and have a beer, a glass of wine or dessert and coffee. We stumbled on this historical and charming medieval restaurant as we walked up a small alley. We had really expected better meals and better service. The restaurant was only half full, surprising being a weekend, and it seemed most tables were tourists. The cold meals were mentioned again when we were paying, but again, our server could not have cared! An offer of a complimentary dessert, or a glass of wine could have been taken off our bill, but was not. His reaction was to give us 8 small shots of some horrible schnapps, that was worse than grappa. It was mentioned again, when the plates were being taken away, that two of the meals were not hot. He asked how the meals were, then did not react at all. ![]() ![]() They should have, as out server could not have cared. We were all together for an evening, so the two people who had the disappointing meals didn’t send them back. The schnitzel and goulash came hot, and our friends liked their meals, but the lamb and ravioli came barely warm. Most of our group ordered the schnitzel, lamb or goulash. We had read reviews of the restaurant and walked past, and it seemed like a good choice for our group.
